The most appropriate way is for schools to use
it as part of their efforts to involve parents in drug education.
They might have their programme of drug education for children
in Year 5 or 6, and give each child a copy of the booklet to
take home and read with their parents. It would be important
to enclose a letter to the parent explaining that they could
support their child’s drug education by reading the booklet
together with their child.
Other ways of using the booklet are:
• discussed on parenting courses
• distributed via community centres
• have available in health centres etc, for parents to
take a copy
• given out at parents’ evenings that focus on drugs
issues.
